How to become a professional Fashion Designer!

When we talk about fashion designing it starts with basic sense of designing, drawing, sketching, painting, knowledge of color & combination, basic sense of styling and fabrics. Fashion designing is an art where high fashion garments are created applying creativity & technology together.

Eligibility:  The very basic requirement for fashion designing is after HSC (10 +2). Now again it depends whether you want to pursue a graduation course or a master’s course. For master’s you must have a graduation in any or related field. For admission, few colleges’ runs entrance test or aptitude tests and few colleges allow direct admission based upon your skills and interests.

Career Options: After you successfully complete your studies; it’s time to roll with the reality. Here comes the time for internships & jobs. Internships will give you the insights of the industry. There are several departments you can opt. for.  After completing the course you have the options for Designing. Merchandising or Production. In the field of designing, you can opt for graphics designing, apparel designing, costume designing, fashion illustrator etc. In the upcoming digital days, graphics designing will be high in demand that will also include the skills of video creation & editing. If you opt for merchandising, there are several fashion export houses where you can work as junior merchandiser with gaining & learning the process of merchandising. Production, in production sector you will learn the whole process of garment manufacturing & production. It is the least glamorous & most important part of the fashion world. Production is responsible for a brands overall success.
